As people's livelihoods improve, an increasing number of families can afford home services, providing a new driver for China's economic growth and employment, the academy's report said. The number of workers in the sector is expected to hit 50 million in 2025, it said.

As of the end of June, the work resumption rate of the industry had reached over 90 percent, while all large and medium-sized enterprises in the sector had re-started their business activities, said MOC official Xian Guoyi during an online news briefing on Tuesday.

As many as 30 people were rescued safely, while the injured were being given medical treatment at a local government hospital.

As more high-end manufacturing projects are launched by leading multinational corporations in Shanghai and surrounding areas, the business environment and industrial chain in the Yangtze River Delta region are proving attractive to foreign investment, which will help boost the country's industrial upgrading, said experts.

As part of these efforts, the company has also supported the China Primary Health Care Foundation in establishing the Lifelong Public Welfare Fund, with joint efforts from China's digital giant Alibaba Group's healthcare arm, Ali Health, to identify tuberculosis patients, train doctors and provide access to the best possible treatment in Yunnan province, in a bid to eradicate the disease there and expand that experience to other provinces.
